Project Vine is an
organization to release a Linux distribution with Japanese environment.
Project Vine was founded by six members of
*)PJE(Project JE)
in 1998 and has developed Vine Linux with new members and many
volunteers in Japan.

PJE was a famous project in Japan. PJE had released
packages to set up Japanese environment on slackware and Red Hat
Linux, and played an important role for the introduction of Linux in Japan.
Many applications developed by PJE were included by some distributions such as
RedHat Japanese version (which is released as Laser 5 Linux now).

VineSeed, the developmental version of
Vine Linux is publicly opened, and many developers join to the development.
